This bolster is placed at the end of surgery and removed in the surgeons office 7-10 days later.

The bolster is needed to:

keep the vaginal packing in place.The vaginal packing is placed to help with sealing the vaginal lining in place and hemostasis

pressure on areas that bleed in the first 1-2 days

a catheter is emptying your bladder since this area needs to have the compression bolster
-
this bolster is not waterproof, so no showers or baths are allowed while you have it in place but sponge baths or bird baths are ok.
